„Reflections: Exploring the Canvas of Cultural Diversity“

Sentro ng Kultura at Wika ng Austria at Pilipinas and VHS Donaustadt proudly announce an upcoming art exhibition titled „Reflections: Exploring the Canvas of Cultural Diversity,“ featuring the remarkable artworks of Filipino artists Harold Khan and Jessielaine Punongbayan. The exhibition will take place from June 5th to June 24th, 2024, from 09:00 to 21:00 at VHS Donaustadt, Bernoullistraße 1, 1220, Wien (adjacent to Westfield Donauzentrum).

„Reflections“ aims to celebrate cultural diversity through the lens of Filipino artistry. Harold Khan and Jessielaine Punongbayan, known for their distinct styles and sentimental reflections of their heritage and influences, will present an array of artworks that will resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.

Harold Khan, known for his vivid use of striking colors, invites viewers into a world where traditional Filipino style, reminiscent of old movie billboards, intertwine with contemporary motifs and expressions, creating a dialogue between past and present. His works evoke a sense of nostalgia while also challenging perceptions of identity and belonging.

Jessielaine Punongbayan, on the other hand, has mastered the abstracts of form and symbolism. Through her paintings, one can see the influences of Philippine landscapes – from lush tropical rainforests teeming with exotic flora and fauna to pristine beaches with crystalline waters and dramatic limestone cliffs to volcanoes that once in a while spew out flames and lava. Her art serves as a bridge between cultures, inviting viewers to explore the shared stories that connect us all.
