Ralph is a sociologist and doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of Vienna. His interest in the topic “Philippines/Filipinos” developed due to his search for his own identity and to understand his biography. From an early age, he always had to navigate between two worlds – the Austrian and the Filipino, the European and the Asian. Ralph found his own identity while writing and reflecting on his experiences, which is strongly shaped by social, political, and cultural developments. He defines himself as a Filipino who was born and raised in Austria but has strong ties to Filipino culture and the Philippines.
